Seven
out of the ten original starters have arrived in Munich. Four of
the seven have ridden every mile from Shanghai to Munich. One was
flown home for repairs and rejoined us in Poland for the rest of
the trip. Dr. Allen stayed with the Russia accident until all arrangements
were made to fly the fallen back to the USA. His motor went into
the van for one leg of the journey so he gets all of our respect
and admiration and credit for the entire trip. One machine had
a paralever pivot come loose and spent a few days in the van but
was finally fixed and finished today.
Every engine in the event
has performed without fault. Our main problem was rear shocks.
The aftermarket units suffered badly with the exception of one
Bitubo. The few stock shocks did OK. The Works Performance and
Ohlins units all failed.
We have
gathered this evening with toasts to those who are not with us. Let's hope
that they are all on the mend and will be back soon.
Regards, Norm
